The Task

I went away for the weekend to slip
out of my disciplines. So I didn't practice
my asanas
except for a moment in the sand.

I didn't pull out my journal to write
even simple
haikus. I just
wanted to flow

from waking to sleep, for the work
life wants to impress on me,
like a cat receiving sun
in between its small chores

chasing rodents.
What am I saying? Everything I do is work.
Or is it play? I can't quite tell.
Washing the camp dishes

in the morning sun felt just like work, play, home.

"The Brain, within its Groove Runs evenly -- and true -- But let a Splinter swerve --" Emily Dickinson
