Endless Eclipse

by Christopher Lawrence (2004)

As I write I look into the words.  I pause

and read

and re-write

and write some more.

With each new word I pray and hope for an answer, a message, something to make this time easier.  I don’t want to be with you anymore.  I don’t want to be with anyone…

but there is no nourishment in despondency.

No, there is only darkness.  The same darkness from where I came.  Like a loop.  From darkness to darkness with only a small gate in between.

A ring of black stone; on and on.  If only I could see the crack I made in the ring when I dropped it.  If only by feeling with my callused hand I could feel the small breach.

That is my way out.  That is my way to freedom.

For in the end the darkness will never win, it can not, will not own me.

Where is the crack, the crack?

Where is the breach in the hull?
