The splinterswerve Manifesto

"The Brain, within its Groove Runs evenly — and true — But let a Splinter swerve—" (Emily Dickinson)

Patterns of belief run deep in our brains, forming deep grooves from being well trodden and well-worn; these are known as neuropathways. But when we realize that these patterns of belief are just beliefs, they are no more true than any other belief or possible pathway. Not only can we change our minds, but neurobiology has shown that we can actually change our brains.

We can look at a belief, or groove in our brain, and with the light of
insight and intent, let a splinter swerve.

Splinterswerve's manifesto is to:

  • expand minds and change brains, by representing works that may challenge beliefs and societal norms and question the status quo.

  • represent work that gets under the skin of its audience and its creators.

  • inspire participants (creators and audience) to take positive social, political, community (you name it) action in their lives and in their world.

  • foster a community of thinkers, doers and artists who inspire collaborative evolution on a personal, communal and societal level.

  • be inclusive by being  accessible in approach, attitude and internet out reach.

  • encourage everyone to create their lives for themselves in every moment of every day with awareness.

  • kill your television.

"We have to stop consuming our culture, we have to create
culture. Don't watch TV, don't read magazines...this is all
cultural diversion. What is real is you...Reclaim your mind and get it
out of the hands of the cultural engineers who want to turn you into a
half-baked moron who is consuming all this trash that is manufactured
out of the bones of a dying world."  - Terrence McKenna
